Kacy hits Pre-School!

Here is a picture of the building in which Sara attends the ELC (on the right) and Kacy attends Pre-K (on the left).

Monday marked the start of another school year. Not that much changes from year to year for us. Darren is still working at both schools as Director of School Improvement and Director of Technology. I continue to work with the 5th graders here at TCIS. Sara has moved up to the toddlers at the ELC. She gets to enjoy circle time and participates in some craft time. Kacy on the other hand has made the big move! She started Pre-K. This was a big day for her and for us. She was very excited. She has seen a lot of her friends leave the ELC and go to Pre-K and Kindergarten, but she has always stayed behind.

Kacy and Sara on the first day of school.

Here is Kacy with her new book bag all ready for Pre-K.

Kacy has really enjoyed her first two days of Pre-K. Her class is quite diverse and quite large for a TCIS Pre-K class. They have a total of 12 students. In her class there is Kacy (American), a German girl, a French boy, a Spanish/German boy, and the rest are ethnically Korean, although my understanding is that some have lived in other countries. Only two of them, Kacy and her friend Jamie (who has been in the ELC with her) speak English as their mother tongue. Others in the class may speak a little English, but it is not what is spoken in the home. It should be an interesting year and Kacy will have lots of opportunity to help out and be a leader.

I'm posting a link to her class blog http://prek-tcis.blogspot.com/. Her teacher Ms. Sligh is updating it and there are already some humorous posts on it. If you watch the video you will note that all speaking is done by Kacy and I doubt that anyone else even understands her except Jamie, although it tells me we need to talk to her about being bossy! I can't believe that either of her parents are a bit bossy so who knows how she got that trait! :) We will also list this blog on our blog roll so that you can check it at your leisure.
