H1N1 Strikes

H1N1--What is it? It is that much talked about flu that has been talked about so much all over the world. Well we had our first encounter with it this week. Being an international school and having people fly in from all over the world makes you somewhat more susceptible at the start of school. So, as soon as school started they implemented a plan to track those that weren't feeling well and to determine if they had Swine Flu. We got through the first week fine, but on Monday and Tuesday of Week 2 we started seeing students get sick and the health department got nervous. They called in some health officials and they started testing people for H1N1. Tuesday afternoon, August 18th we got our first positive results back and we have 8 positive tests at school. So the health department closed us down for a week to stop the spread of it. One of the major issues with the Swine Flu is how easily it is transmitted from one person to another.

We are out of school for a week...here is what they asked of us...
  • Stay away from school, campus is closed to everyone
  • Don't go to areas with a lot of people (where in Korea is there a public place that doesn't have a lot of people?)
  • Don't get together in groups
  • If you start to school symptoms report it to the nurse immediately
So we are praying for good health...
