So, we all learn from mistakes right. Well Kacy's birthday was a learning experience and one that I won't relive if I can help it! :) I remember calling Darren right before I sent out the invitations and renigging on inviting all the kindergarteners, but he assured me that we needed to invite them all and we had said we were going to! So, I sent out the invitations. Friday was a half day of school due to Thanksgiving holiday so that kids just stayed after school and we had lunch in the activity center and played some games. Some of my games got quickly changed, like the one in which we all put our hands in paint and make a rainbow. After a few minutes with these kids I decided I would have needed one on one supervision in order to tackle a task like that! :) After all was said and done Kacy enjoyed her birthday party, Darren and I aged and grew wiser, and we ALL gained a lot of respect for Mrs. Roberts, the kindergarten teacher. I even remember at one point when Darren pulled out his whistle and started directing kids with the whistle, somewhat reminiscent of the movie Kindergarten Cop!

We started with a little Duck Duck Goose while everyone came and we set up lunch upstairs.

I am forever indebted to my mother. She always makes my cakes for me. Kacy decided this summer that she wanted a rainbow cake. So my mom made one for her.

Another game was as the music plays the present gets passed when it stops you get to unwrap a layer and get the goodie that is inside. We could post several unflattering stories about this game and many others but it is better left alone.

Kacy got to open her presents!
All in all, 15 kids ages 5 and 6 + a lot of sugar and excitement is guaranteed to be full of adventure and probably not a scenario we want to host in the future. Next year, Kacy will be choosing a few select friends and we will try it again. Happy 6th Birthday Kacy!
